Dar Mima. The name sounds like a memory of a grandmother. The menu proposed at 28Dt for a breaking-up of the fasting is tempting. On arrival, Dar Mima delivers a correct and generous service but which focuses more on quantity than quality. By Amel DJAIT
On this fasting breaking-up day, the Dar Mima restaurant is full and the big mezannine room too. The clientele is family and relatively young.
The establishment is in place. A few minutes from the breaking of the fasting, the entries are already enthroned on the table: duo of salad (excellent méchouia and Tunisian a little more than anything), various very small ramekins have stuffed dates, fresh ricotta. In drinks, Dar Mima offers a glass of “bssisa” …. The whole thing is based on beautiful mat mats of Nabeul and a beautiful traditional porcelain. The nod to “haleb”, which has largely disappeared, is more than commendable.
With the call to prayer begins the farandole of the dishes. Quickly arrives a fish soup, a brika “failed, oily, cold, overcooked and hard .. Fortunately, this downside is quickly caught up with a delicious” marqat emelh “with a dumpling.
The dishes, having been ordered before the start of the service, arrive after a very long wait. For those who like to take their time and enjoy resting, chatting and enjoying the evening this is perfect. On the other hand, for those who do not like waiting, hunger passes and suddenly, there is a good chance that they do not take advantage of the dishes. That said, with the number of appetizers offered by the menu, it is really easy to be quickly satiated.
As for Food , the flavor at Dar Mima is at the rendezvous. If the pasta “fell” with grouper was cold and the fish grilled a little overcooked, the octopus couscous was delicious and the “tastira” with a complete fish excellent. The basket of breads is filled with various varieties: baguette, tabouna …
Where Dar Mima does not insure is at the service level. And that’s a shame! With a lot of good will and commitment, the servers in sub number are overwhelmed. They can not ensure the number of cutlery, the service, the clearance, the additional orders of the customers (bread, drinks, lemon …) In swimming, they run and fail to ensure the volume of work required. They end up not stressing the customer who to get a coke or a bill, he must ask, raise his hand, insist …. At the risk of leaving in the end without dessert!
In conclusion, Dar Mima is a good value for money but would benefit to provide a little more effort at the service level.
Committing to typical Tunisian and traditional cuisine, he promises to “Eat Tunisian and feast on the best dishes based on vegetables, spices, olive oil, meat and fish … Tunisian cuisine it’s healthy recipes in a Mediterranean context “.
If the intention is there and the effort too, Dar Mima is not yet able to give a good time to its customers especially with background noise a television program here and another there.
