This exhibition , Signs the orientation of El Firma towards the cultural event. Interview With Rahma Megarech to find out more.
1001Tunisie: You are artistic director at El Firma. Why does a restaurant recruit a profile like yours?
Rahma Megraesch: El Firma launched the Cultural Bar concept: #Eat #Drink #BeArty . An encounter between the art of music and gastronomy. From this point of view, the cultural and artistic aspect becomes an essential element in the identity of the restaurant. It is a choice that is made to stand out.
As for my profile, I am an architect, passionate about art and participated in fifteen collective exhibitions. On the other hand, I was part of two artistic residencies with the Goethe Institute, I have many associative activities and a great interest in heritage. Through my varied experiences, I think I have formed an idea about culture in Tunisia developed a good network.
What is your vision for “El Firma”? What can art and artistic activity bring to a place like this?
I would like to create an amalgam between music, painting, visual art, culinary art on the one hand and encourage young people on the other hand. We want to create a network to launch young artists, organize meetings between great artists and young people. And why not organize artistic residences or workshops? This approach can not only make El Firma stand out from other spaces but also give it a different dynamic.
Do you think customers are ready for such mixes?
Absolutely! I think more and more that the Tunisian is interested in art and culture. It is our duty to re-establish links and to emphasize the importance of the role of art in society. “El Firma” can boast of having a very specific clientele who may be interested in culture.
What are the next events of “El Firma”? Who are you going to expose yourself in one of the most trendy restaurants of Tunis?
For now, I have in mind the young Firas Hamedi whose page is https: //www.facebook.com/gapsx/?fref=ts. I also work to bring back names like Hela Lamine, Samir Makhlouf, Outhman Taleb and so many others.
Must we wait for “happening” this summer at “El Firma” after the renovation of the terrace?
And how ! This summer 2017, there will be many surprises and especially discoveries.
