M Jamel Gamra Minister of Tourism, who led the Tunisian delegation to this meeting indicated that this election will allow Tunisia to reinforce its presence in this organization besides the fact that it is a recognition to the experience of Tunisia in tourism development throughout the past four decades. It will give him a new opportunity to better serve the tourist economy in Africa and the world.
Evoking the issues on the agenda of this General Assembly, the Minister, at present delegates indicated that the General Assembly of UNWTO is an opportunity to discuss a common strategy to implement and provide a vital sector for the socio-economic life of the people of greater ability to withstand the shocks that can cause grievous harm to all countries, especially for developing countries because of their vulnerability, but also because their balances depend largely on tourism flows. He has outraged and added that tourism and air transport are closely linked and that the news of such a debate is a clear opportunity to the extent that the significant growth in global tourism is explained as much by a further democratization air transport by the extraordinary development of new information and communications technology as well as a fundamental change in consumer stocks.
Tunisia, he stresses that the Minister has already registered this file to register its strategic priorities is convinced that the future of its tourism also depends on its ability to adapt requirements imposed by changes in the air transport to the world’s scale.
