A few years ago, the Tunisia Destination aspired to reach 10 million tourists in 2016. A revolution later, the attacks, leaving a -Go and tourist revolution that does not happen, gives a highly worrying result! It is often said that the figures are often speak louder than words. These are deafening!
Figures of 2016
British tourists were 13 thousand coming to Tunisia since the beginning of the year (as opposed to 255 000 2 years ago) despite the travel ban hanging over Tunisia Destination. This equates to a total collapse of the market, ie – 94%. Since the beginning in 2016, 65,000 Germans came in Tunisia against 148,000 in 2015 and 228,000 in 2014. The Italians rose from 149,000 tourists in 2014 to 56,000 in 2015 and 43,000 in 2016 (still as of August 10 ). To conclude, we are far from the time when the destination attracted 3 million tourists per year.
The destination has attracted 824,000 Europe since the beginning of 2016 of which 44% are Russian. Tunisia therefore recorded a decline of 16.4% compared to 2015 (985,000 tourists) and 52.5% if we refer to the 2014 achievements on the same date (1736 tourists)
