The films of the JCC in 2012 will be screened in 13 cinemas including three of them that have been equipped with an advanced digital system known by Digital Cinema Package (DCP), said Mr. Mediouni.

Tunisian film “Get out” will mark the evening of the opening of the JCC. Through this documentary work, director Mohamed Zran wanted to “mark a high point in the history of our country”, in the words of the Director of JCC.

As for this edition closing night, it will pay tribute to the South African singer Miriam Makeba, who was, in 1982, the guest of the Carthage Film Festival. During the closing ceremony, the followers of the 7th art will go with the movie “Mama Africa”.

The chair of the jury of the official competition “Feature films” returned to a Tunisian Ali Louati while other members represent six countries namely Egypt, France, Cameroon, Rwanda, Iran and Palestine.

As for the “Shorts”, the Palestinian Rashid Mashraoui will chair the jury alongside men of culture representing Tunisia, Algeria, Niger and Iran.

The 2012 edition of the JCC will also be marked by parallel activities, including an international meeting on “African Film Fund” with the participation of Ministers of 5 Arab and African countries besides African film personalities.

The organizers of this cinematographic event, founded in 1966 to be the “dean of Arab-African festivals”, announced that they will reserve for this year a lot of new features with the projection in the “World Cinema” section 3 of Chinese films, 2 Indian movies, Iranian films 5, 6 and 7 Japanese films French films.

The JCC 2012 will also pay tribute to the Algerian people in commemorating the 50th anniversary of Independence of the State of Algeria through the screening of 17 films including 9 feature films and 8 shorts.
