About 1 million French tourists visited Tunisia in 2012, the same as Italian tourists, German and English together.

At the Ministry, Francois Gouyette and Jamel Gamra discussed new ways to increase tourist flows and strengthen the image of Tunisia abroad.

Between actors and Tunisian French cooperation, substantive work is done in several priority areas:

– The development of rural tourism, cultural and heritage; including training sessions in Tunisian regions, organized by the National Federation of Gîtes de France;

– Improving hotel facilities and training; with the introduction of high-level training and the extension of a major upgrade program of hotel units. Launched in 2006, it has so far enabled 24 Tunisian hotels to modernize by accessing cheap loans from the French Development Agency (AFD). Several French operators are part of this dynamic, as ACCOR, which support the hotel school in Sidi Drif;

– The development of tools to develop digital bookings and e-tourism. The head of the digital economy service of the French Technical Cooperation Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Finance (ADETEF), in Tunis early April to increase bilateral cooperation in this field;

– The strengthening of administrations and actors working in the visibility of Tunisia abroad. In particular, a program of exchange of expertise between the National Office of Tunisian tourism and the Agency Atout France, a program funded by AFD in the amount of € 100,000;

– An soon opening of business tourism line funding from the French Treasury dedicated to SMEs / SMIs Tunisian.
