If you doubt that bio has a future in Tunisia! Do not be deceived any more! Not only is the sector exploding and has good days ahead, but it is also one of the few channels to have its own promotional film: Tunisia; The land of bio.

By Amel DJAIT

While it is indisputable that organic farmers and producers are multiplying in Tunisia, the lack of visibility of “bio” slows down its development of the sector. Aware of this shortcoming, a public / private partnership has been set up. Its aim is to promote the export of Tunisian organic products and their image, particularly through an institutional film.

Screened in front of a handful of guests and operators in the presence of Samir Taïeb, Minister of Agriculture, Water and Fisheries, the film lasts about 22 minutes and combines the testimonies of experts, Historians and farmers to crops and dumping in production units and farms. The film presents the most important of the 21 sectors and offers a special focus on olive oil, dates, prickly pear, medicinal plants …

The film will be broadcast during ANUGA in Germany in October 2017. It will then be translated into several languages, made available to national companies and institutions abroad and broadcast on social networks, including the Youtube link of the film: Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYtage1-lwg

“Tunisian organic farming has now reached a level of maturity which allows it to better position itself on an international scale and to conquer new markets, thus promoting Tunisia as an economic and tourist destination, where organic is a culture “, That is the ambition and vision of the minister on this subject.
A great figure and undisputed organic soldier, Mrs Samia Maamar, considers for her part that “organic farming is a sector of future. It currently extends over 232,000 hectares. Potentially we can go up to 2 million hectares. Which is enormous. Our annual production is about 450 thousand tons all products combined. Our strategy for 2020 is based on some 20 sectors that cover both plant and animal production, forestry and aquaculture. A great diversity that makes it possible to make Tunisia; An Earth of the Bio “.

The national strategy for the development of organic farming is established by 2020. The action plan covers labels, diversification, bio-tourism …. This film is part of this framework. It was carried out by the Directorate-General for Organic Agriculture, in collaboration with the communication agency “Multicom Services” and the export consultancy “Stecia International”.
