It is while reading the article http://www.huffpostmaghreb.com on the COP22 and its impac ton tourism in Morocco ( To read the article: http://www.huffpostmaghreb.com/2016/11/18/cop22-aubaine-tourisme-maroc_n_13074334.htmlTOURISME) that my thoughts turned towards the longer waited big event of Tunis: Tunisia 2020 (http://www.tunisia2020.com ) by Amel DJAIT
While we are barely a week away from the event, Tunis and its suburbs are still in the same state. I made a 12 km walk along the tourist area of Gammarth, the state is desolate: garbage, dead trees, broken pavements, ONAS mouths discovered, public lighting off …. The parallel is painful but necessary!

To organize the COOP22 in Marrakech from 7 to 18 November, the authorities took it well in advance! If the event recorded the participation of 25,000 to 30,000 people according to the first estimates, the opportunity to “reboost” tourism activity in the country was studied, managed and exploited.

4.2 million tourists visited Morocco during the first half of 2016, a decrease of 2.6% compared to the same period in 2015, according to figures from the Tourism Observatory. Morocco has deployed all its resources and know-how to take advantage of the COOP22 event. Marrakech was taken by assault. There was no room, airplane seat, restaurant or taxi free! And that’s good !
But where I want to draw attention is that the article mentions that Morocco put the big dishes in the little ones and was perfectly prepared to receive the event: “The city had besides Not half done to accommodate tens of thousands of people from all continents. Avenues completely redone and bordered by flowers and palm trees, free bus and taxi services for the participants, impressive security deployment, mobilization of all the hotels and guest houses … Marrakech has made a new skin in a (almost) record time “Reads the article.

If the city displayed full twelve days, the event was beneficial for an even more important message: “Morocco has shown that it is capable of organizing big events like the big European cities”. In the circles concerned, the results are positive: “The reputation and image of Marrakech left by the COP22 must … bode well for a 2017 year fertile for Moroccan tourism” This is also and above all the challenge! Of the Marrakech film which will be held in a few days, the exposure of Morocco is likely to remain on an upward slope.

For me, if it is undoubtedly for Tunisia to rethink its image shooting of the CCG, it is important to avoid giving a show for the Tunisia 2020 conference. And for that, is not it Already too late?

Finally, I consulted the website of Tunisia2020. In the Factsheet dedicated to Entertainment, only a PDF link to the “Residence Golf Club” is valid. But am I stupid! Investors do not come to be entertained but possibly and exclusively to play golf: http://www.tunisia2020.com/informations-pratiques/
