The two sides have expressed a common desire to work together and above all to create a partnership able to meet the challenges of the sector by highlighting its importance for the country’s economy.

In a statement issued by the Tunisian Ministry of Tourism, it is mentioned that “the hoteliers took the opportunity to express several complaints relating in particular to the solution of the indebtedness of the hotel sector, access to the tax advantages currently under consideration In the Assembly of People’s Representatives (ARP), the application of tourist real estate and the upgrading of the hotel stock. “ The Tunisian hostelry is currently experiencing a most critical phase with a debt estimated at more than 4 billion dinars.

The question is currently the Achilles heel of the Tunisian hotel industry which on the one hand flows under the debts and the other no longer finds access to financing to upgrade and maintain its park. At the end of this first meeting, it was agreed to set up a joint commission to study all these issues with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant departments.

Finally, the speakers decided to put in place appropriate mechanisms to allow and maintain consultation between professionals and the administration on a periodic basis.
